CASBEE

I attended a lecture on CASBEE this month. CASBEE means Comprehensive Assessment System for Building Environmental Efficiency. Because of its heavy consumption of energy, our industry, houses and buildings takes criticism now. We have to improve consumption of energy. The CASBEE seems useful tool to save the environment for future generations. To be honest, I'm studying it now. So I only have a smattering of knowledge about it. Sorry.

This concept has been discussed, made a study in North America and Japan.
So its scientific terms are English. Specialists who lead to this project which the spread of CASBEE seem talk over it only in English. I noticed that they don't have will to translate the scientific terms into Japanese. That’s why the panelist who is a professor of Keio Univ. gave up using Japanese to explain in the end of the lecture.
Actually, we cannot find good translation for the scientific terms. The concept of CASBEE is new and its terms too. I listened to some Japanese translation of the English terms, but they sounded strange. They were words which we don’t use them in our dairy life. Probably, we will be confused, if all of the terms are translated.

I noticed I didn't mind listening to a lecture of Japanese and many English words, or at least I wasn't allergic to English. I'm writing a report of the lecture now and of course, there are many English words in it, but I can enjoy writing.
I'm glad to think that studying English brings a good result.

TAMA

In January and also February, I was really busy and I always came back home late at night. On that day, I went to Odawara to explain the project to inhabitants who live near the new construction site. When the job finished around 7:00 p.m., I thought that I could come back and work in the office. I didn't know the reason why it was so, but I changed my mind when I arrived at the crossroad in front of the highway interchange. I didn't join the Seisho toll road and I hurried on my way to my house.

When I entered in the livingroom, she was in a serious condition. She became unconscious and sometimes went into convulsions. Since the beginning of this year, she has been blind. As she grew older, she got her weight down.

Her body was soft, strong and warm when she was young. She could jump up on the top of the upright piano in the living room. She sometimes slept in my bed in winter season. She was like a hot- water bottle but sometimes too heavy for me. She was my cat.

At that night, when I stroked her head, I was surprised that she was not warm. She already lost her body temperature. So I checked her heart was moving. She was sleeping and looked like she didn't notice me, but I continued to pat her. Suddenly she went into convulsions again. So I shook her and told her that you did your best.
She woke up for a moment and cried only once. After a while, she died.
She was 22 years old. To be exact, she was over 22 years old. Nobody can remember when she came to my house. She was an abandoned cat. I and my sister met a child who found the abandoned kittens and were looking for a keeper of them. The child handed us one of them.
22 years old is marvelous age for cat. Because she was a hybrid and she has not gotten sick, she has never been to a doctor. So there is not a doctor who can prove her age. The wild cat She died of old age.

I don't know who told me that you'd better go back home at that night. If I worked in the office, I must have come home at midnight and I couldn't see her before she died.
It was a mysterious experience.
It has been about 10 days since she left. I miss her.
