Before After
I got a new client last month. They asked me to repair their house. They want to improve its ability of earthquake-resistant and need storage space for their belongings.
They told me they actually bought it 20 years ago but it isn't their dream house. So they will change it within the limits of the budget. I decided to work as a volunteer.
I know nobody want to die by an earthquake and me too. If I were buried under the house and died because I didn't improve the house I lived, it must be funny.

Adding to pillars and bracing the walls are ways to improve. But it will not have perfect ability to resist a big earthquake. The limits of the budget. I worry about it.
If they have no relation to me, I don't think so much about it. I always work in a businesslike way. But in this case, the situation is different. I live with the client.
I will have no choice but judge the quality of the repair work which I planed someday.
I will do what I can do within the limits of the budget but nobody knows how an earthquake will vibrate in the future. So I cannot say that this house is 100% safe.
But they hope to get a shelter which is free from danger. I know.
It's painful for me.
There are ways to resist an earthquake without charge. I recommend them.
1. Dispose of junk.
2. Books and old furniture are heavy. Put them on the first floor.
3. Sometimes look into the sky to check a threatening cloud.
Actually, seeing a serene sky, it's clear blue, I'm getting to think that my anxiety is meaningless. Time goes on peacefully. Probably I work to be able to continue these mild days even if an earthquake happens.
