Far beyond the sea

Niraikanai comes from beyond the sea. He is the god of the ocean. He sometimes comes to this world swimming a long distance from his world. I heard that the legend had been widely believed in Okinawa But when I saw the sea of Okinawa, I noticed the legend was still alive. The sea of Okinawa is too beautiful, too blue, too deep, and...
Because of my small vocabulary, I cannot find a suitable word for it
For a long time, the sea had been scenery for me. I cannot swim well. So I always enjoyed the sight of it. But to my surprise, I was in the sea for a few hours.

Snorkeling is a good sport for a beginner like me. Do you remember “ Suimie”? We read the book in elementary school. I looked a school of small fish which they sparkled in the sunlight. A school of fish often turned suddenly. I sometimes tried to touch it, but always I couldn’t. Who decide the direction? Probably it was “Suimie”. He must be the leader of the school.
I looked a white sea snake. It was swimming zigzag. An Nimmo in the bed of sea anemone was really cute. There were stylish fish with stripes of yellow, a polka-dot pattern of pink, and vivid green. They kept their own pace. They swam slowly. They sometimes looked at me out of the corner of their eyes. “Strange animals with big fins! “
An octopus was off its guard at the shallows. The next moment, he was caught by a diver. It is a law of nature. The weak are victims of the strong.

Visiting aquariums or planetariums are not bad. But they are imitation.
The sea of Okinawa is real nature. I was a child of nature and felt relaxed there.
I need not look a daydream any longer. If I feel disgusted with the contemporary Japan made of artificial objects, I have only to get on the expressway bus at Honathugi to meet Niraikanai.

Hello,

Nice to see your new blog! It looks cute & stylish. I've never been to Okinawa. It seems to be a totally different world. White sand, blue sky, and clear water. But the weather is hot. That is the problem. I cannot stand up with the heat and humidity. Is there a good season to visit Okinawa?
I haven't read "Swimie". I know the title, but have know nothing about it. You see, my reading list is quite short! I am thiking to read "A night on the Ginga railway" someday, soon, or later.
I am looking forward to reading your next article!

Hi. Sumiko.
You're the first guest. Thank you for coming.
I heard that the best season of Okinawa is immediately after the end of the rainy season. I went to Okinawa in this early July. It must be the best season but It was not free from moisture. So I think If you won't swim, you'd better go in fall or winter. But blue sky and white sand beach are symbols of summer.
August is not good season to go there, because it's typhoon season. So if you want a reason not to go to work, you have only to go to an isolated island in typhoon season. 3 years ago, my co-worker went to an isolated island of Okinawa and she couldn’t go to work because of the flight cancellation. Finally she spent all her money but the shops didn't accept credit card and there wasn't any city bank! When she disappointed, she noticed a sign of JA bank. She could withdraw her money from her account. For the first time in her life, she felt JA bank was good for her. She told me that JA mark had been surrounded by halo.
Last year same accident happened. One of my co-worker, he went to Ishigaki Island, didn't come back. Probably it was ...an accident.
By the way, don't you know スイミー story of a red little fish? This is a fairy tale. OK. I'll tell you next time. You studied literature in university, didn't you? But you don't really like reading novels. It was a wonder for me.
